It’s become tradition by this point that we kick the Desertfest weekend off a little early on the Thursday at The Black Heart, with previous years seeing bands such as 1000mods and Slabdragger serving as the soundtrack for the first beers downed and first heads banged. This year is no different as we proudly welcome ASG and Flash House to open up the heaviest weekend of the year at the official Desertfest Pre-Party.

Our headliners for the night are Wilmington, North Carolina natives ASG, serve the unique honour of playing the pre-party and Friday’s after-party at this year’s Desertfest. Flying the flag for stoner rock and metal since the early noughties, their ass-kicking self-titled debut introduced the impressive vocal range of Jason Shi as it cut through the band’s signature grooved riffs. Five albums (and one hell of a split with Black Tusk) down the line, ASG have been an avalanche of hooks for 17 years and never fail to bring the good times. If feeling good is good enough, ASG will more than deliver at the Desertfest Pre-party.

They’ll be joined by London’s own Flash House, who inject the raw power of their punk drenched noise into the night. Their debut full length, last year’s Brown Sauce, passes through at a breakneck speed only surpassed by their live performances. Between these and ASG, we’re not sure we’ll have a neck left by Friday morning.
