ZODIAK

Omnipollo's new house IPA, brewed in Belgium from a blend of grains, untouched post formation and aspiringly hopped with Simco, Citra and Centennial. Has a light sweetness with a tropical fruit balance, and a pleasant bitterness. On tap today and it won't last long!

THE NEXT DAY BEER

Reparationsbajer from To Øl was the Gold Medal Winner at the Stockholm Beer and Whisky Festival. The day after your tour de force in the world of alcohol, where good manners have been thrown over the shoulder, the liver has been punished and the dance floor hasn't looked better since John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, ones physical and mental state need to get in gear for another week of tedious paperwork. You need something to cleanse your tastebuds from the taste of the cheap Tequila. You need something to recover you safely and give you a renewed love and zest for life. In simple terms, you need a really good recovery beer (in Danish "Reparationsbajer") The problem is that there are few perfect recovery beers! Nauseous mass produced lagers are the last thing you want to think about after you have been making a few calls in the great white telephone. This is why To Øl for a long time has had the goal to develop a recipe for the perfect recovery beer. This has resulted in a lot of tough empirical field work combined with a great amount of brewing, the results are clear: the best way to remove you hangover is with a potent Pale Ale with powerful and aromatic American and New Zealand hops combined with a nice round, pleasant and well-balanced malt profile to massage the palate and reinforce the belief that one shall survive another day!

CANNONBALL

From Magic Rock, Cannonball. An India Pale Ale in the true tradition, high in alcohol and massively hopped to survive a sea voyage, let the flavour explode on your palate. Tropically fruity, resinous hops compete against a sweet malty backbone, while a rasping bitterness builds to a mouth puckering crescendo. Come in for a pint tonight!

JAIPUR

Beer of the Day- Jaipur from Thornbridge. Voted best keg ale in the world at the 2010 Brewing Industry International Awards, this IPA is smooth and soft yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. Citrus dominated with an enduring, bitter finish. This summer perfect beer won't last long on tap!

TIGER BABY

Open Windows, Open Hills from gypsy brewer Mikkeller. To celebrate the new album from Danish pop group Tiger Baby, an American style IPA brewed with mango and passionfruit. Aroma is hoppy with pine and mango, and a subtle taste of biscuit malt. You won't even notice the 8% abv on this smooth brew. On tap now!

THE FRAMBOISE

From award winning Bermondsey brewery Anspach & Hobday, a perfect hot weather beer. Fruity and sour, pouring a cloudy amber with an aroma of tangy fruit and earthy wheat grains. Flavour is crisp, tart and candy with a dry finish. On tap now!

LIVE FREE! OR DIE

21st Amendment Brewery's Brew Free! Or Die IPA, is our new addition this week to our fridges. This IPA is brewed with some serious West Coast attitude. This aromatic golden IPA starts with three different hops (Cascade, Centennial and Columbus) to the nose, quickly balanced by a solid malt backbone supporting the firm bitterness. This beer starts big and finishes clean leaving you wanting more.

ICH BIN EIN BERLINER

Next in our Mikkeller line up we have the Berliner Weisse. With an aroma of sour lemons, hints of cucumber and salt. Sour, tart taste with mellowing sweetness. A light, crisp body and soft carbonation. At 3.7% abv, this is perfect summer Sunday drinking.

WARRIOR

An American style IPA hopped with Warrior, from gypsy brewery Mikkeller. A sweet caramel taste with dark fruit and an earthy profile. A brown sugar and cream aroma, and a smooth mouth feel round this summer beer out. On tap now.

BLACK MAGIC

Beer of the day- Magic 8 Ball. A black IPA from Magic Rock, fusing speciality malts with a tropical punch bowl of new world hops to deliver a contradictory yet cultured concoction. A classically 'pale' aroma and quenchingly fruity palate belies a broodingly dark and deceptive appearance. Can a beer be both 'black and pale'? Time to consult the Magic 8 Ball...

SMOOTH OPERATOR

On tap now we have Milk Stout from award winning Danish Gypsy brewery Mikkeller. Sweet flavour with a toasty finish, an aroma of milk chocolate, cream, roasted malt and coffee. Very smooth with a soft carbonation. This is our pick for an after dinner sweet treat.

Happy Birthday Ritual Productions!

Ritual Productions would like to summon you to celebrate their 5th Anniversary on September 18th 2015, at the Black Heart!

"We could not have made it this far without all our fans and supporters across the globe: everyone who has bought a record, every media outlet and concert promoter who has helped spread the enthusiasm, and of course the artists who inspire us all!"

As a thank you, the party will be free to enter and will feature live sets from BONG, 11PARANOIAS and GHOLD - early arrival is advised! The Quietus' Toby Cook will be spinning discs throughout the evening as Oberon watches over the ceremony.

This line up is quite frankly ridiculous

THE TIME LORD TRAVELS ON

Respectfully pinched for Noisey:

Sad news in as Terry Jones lost his battle with cancer. The news of his passing wasn't splashed across newspaper pages or eulogized by many major media outlets, but it did hit one particular community with brutal force. As the vocalist and lyricist for venerated British doom band Pagan Altar, Terry's musical footprint is incalcuable. Heartfelt (and heartbreaking) goodbyes from his bandmates adorn the Pagan Altar Facebook page, while fan tributes continue to surface on social media, and Terry's family—including his son, Alan, with whom he started the band—are left to process their grief. His legacy of doom—the genre he helped to create—will reverberate through countless amps for many years to come.

In interviews, Terry came across as humble and kind; onstage, his flair for the dramatic and penchant for the occult made each performance shine. "I personally am extremely proud of everything we have ever done," Terry told the Metal Crypt zine in 2006. "There are very few songs written by Al and I that we haven't used in some way shape or form. I can still listen to early-recorded tracks and think "I really love that bit" or "That has come out exactly how I had envisaged it at the time and it still stands up"! It's usually a case that many artists in different fields secretly feel that their work is never quite finished and just needs a few more slight alterations. I have never felt that with ours, I wouldn't change anything so that has got to say something about how I feel about it."

We at the Black Heart we're huge fans of Terry and his band, he will be sorely missed.

VENN RECORDS WINS POSTER OF THE YEAR

Venn Records Presents…. METALMANIA 2015!

An evening of the heaviest music curated by our friends in THE HELL. This will be the first time heavyweight champions THE HELL headline London and guitarist Black Mist has this to say:

“I CAN’T WAIT TO JUMP FROM THE TOP ROPES AND DO A GIANT MOSH RIGHT ON YOUR FACE”

Main support comes from The One Hundred, a band that perfectly mixes aggressive metal and bass driven hip-hop. Gurt will be bringing their usual sludge metal party anthems and Venn Records own death metal bruisers Liber Necris will be travelling all the way from Leeds to show London how it’s done up North.
