This week's brews
Its time for our weekly run down of what you can expect to see on draught this week.
We loved, and I think you all did too, the bottles we got in from Scotland's very own Fierce Beer, so we've gone and got two of their beers in keg this time. First up we've got Peanut Riot. This porter pours almost black with a small tan head and has an aroma of dark chocolate and unsurprisingly a fairly big hit of peanut. The flavour follows, with more chocolate, peanut butter and a little salt. Finishes with the roasted malt coming forward a little more. 6.5%. 94 IBU. Vegan.
Next is Granadilla Guerilla, a west coast style IPA with big tropical flavours and plenty of passionfruit. Pours a hazy orange/gold colour with a nose that gives off passionfruit, a slight creaminess and some citrus zest. The flavour has more citrus hops than passionfruit going on, but its still well balanced, tangy would be the best word for it. Finishes bitter and dry. 5.5%. 45 IBU. Vegan
And now for something completely different, Orange Boom from Siren. This berliner weisse starts life broadly as Siren's very drinkable Calypso, they then add loads of fresh orange zest and juice. Its pours yellow with an off white head that holds quite well. The aroma is a little wheat, lots of orange and bitter fruit. Flavour is orange, both zest and juice, lots of fruit. Its reasonably sour and finishes dry. 2.7%. Vegan.
We finish with the strongest beer of the lot, Special Relationship from Magic Rock in collaboration with Oregon's Gigantic Brewery. They describe it as a 'reconstructed manhattan ale' and you can see what they're getting at. It pours hazy brown whilst the nose has lots of cherry, bourbon and red fruit going on. Flavour continues in that vein, with a little more spice, some coconut and plenty of deep malt. Finishes subtly with spice and a little bitterness. 8%. 15 IBU. Vegan.
Thats your lot for this week, check back next week for another update. As ever keep your eyes peeled for updates of beers and bands on our Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ourblackheart/
STONE BROKEN SHOW HAS SOLD OUT
The STONE BROKEN show in September has completely sold out, like many other venues on their tour. We're impressed!
And for those who missed out: You snooze you lose!!
This week's brews!!
Another week, another round of great beer. We've got some Yeastie Boys, Magic Rock, Beavertown and Sierra Nevada coming your way.
First up is the Yeastie Boys Gunnamatta. A tea leaf IPA that uses Earl Grey Blue flower tea in the brew, its nose is of tea, citrus and some tropical fruit. Taste is similar to the nose, but with the tea a little more prominent and some bitter orange. At 6.5% its not a session choice for most but with notes of iced tea its definitely the best way to soak up the last of the summer rays.
Secondly is a real Black Heart favorite, we love our sour beers and this is a truly great one, Magic Rock's Salty Kiss. A traditional german Gose brewed with gooseberries, sea buckthorn and sea salt. Aroma is salty, with mild gooseberry. Flavor is fruity, citrus and more gooseberry. The sourness isnt overwhelming so if you've never tried a sour this is a great starting beer. 4.1% Also available in cans.
Next up, a real heavyweight, Beavertown's Smog Rocket. This smoked porter comes in at 5.4% and has a smokey nose with some dairy and roasted coffee. Flavour follows that with the roasted malts taking center stage a little more. If smokey beers are your thing, you can't go wrong.
We finish with Chico's finest, Sierra Nevada. We've got our lucky mits on their 11.5 Plato Session IPA. Fruity malt aroma thats quite sweet. Flavour is big on the floral hops and citrus, with a little pine and some bread. 4.5%
Check back next week for more beer and as ever check our Instagram for the latest brews and bands.

This week's brews!!
So here's your weekly update on what you can expect to see on draught throughout the coming week.
To begin we've got two beers from Gipsy Hill, the first of which is a collaboration with Three Boys, called Bogan. This New Zealand Pale Ale comes in at 5.5% and as you'd expect from a NZPA is super tropical with lots of mango and papaya going on. Crisp and hoppy with a nice dry finish. Definitely one for the bit of summer weather that's apparently on its way!
The next Gispy Hill brew is one of their core range, the Southpaw New World Amber Ale. A bittersweet beer where the sharp citrus of the hops fight against the notes of toffee and toasted malt sweetness. At 4.2% this is a great session choice.
A Rogue beer next and a classic at that. Dead Guy Ale has been a favourite of ours ever since we got our lips round its fruity body, earthy hops and toasted malt aromas. Sorry, think we got carried away there. Based on a German Maibock, its a deep honey colour and very well balanced. 6.5%
A new one for us next, Export Stout from Belfast brewery Boundary. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a tan head. The nose is liquorice while the taste is toffee, a little roasted malt, some hop bitterness and dried fruit. One we are very much looking forward to. 7%
We end on two ToØl beers. The first is a gin inspired (or 'ginspired' if you will) Gose brewed in collaboration with Pohjala. Named Ginie (In a Bottle) As you'd expect from a Gose its slightly tart, slightly salty. The nose has hints of juniper and coriander, hence the ginspiration, whilst the taste has some lemon, lime and ginger. Very refreshing and not overly sour so those who are yet to be converted, don't be scared! 4.2%
Lastly our second ToØl beer of the week, Tangerine Cream. Unsurprisingly this is a cream ale brewed with plenty of tangerines. Loads of Citra and Simcoe hops are balanced with the tangerines and then flaked wheats and outs are added for a smooth mouthfeel. 4.6%
Check back next week for more brews and remember you can always head over to our Instagram for the latest on brews, bottles and bands.

Signature Brewery Tap Takeover + The Pearl Harts
This Friday Leyton's Signature Brewery are taking over the whole pub!
Upstairs we've got The Pearl Harts tearing the place up.
"Tiny tiny girls that look like giants on stage…all you can think to do is ask them out for ice cream and all they want to do is wreck your house and firebomb your car…."
Downstairs we will have 4 of Signature brewery's best beers, Backstage IPA, Roadie, Anticipation and Black Vinyl, here's a quick run down of what we think of the beers, to decide for yourself you'll have to head down.
At 5.6% the Backstage IPA is the strongest of the beers on offer. Fruity malt and crisp hops on the nose, the taste is bitter with lots of hops and a little grapefruit.
Next up is the Roadie All Night IPA. This session pale has an aroma of sweet malts and a touch of peach whilst the taste is more bitter orange and mild hops. Its reasonably dry and is definitely the perfect session choice at 4.3%
Away from IPAs, we have a collaboration with New Zealand's Yeastie Boys, Anticipation. This Japanese Rice beer is the most subtle of the four beers on offer. The nose gives a hint of lemon and a little suggestion of yeast. The taste is slightly sweet, some cereals and a tad of orange. A really interesting beer which will have you going back for more. 5.4%
Finally we have a darker offering with Black Vinyl. This traditional dry stout has roasted malt and chocolate in both its aroma and flavour and is superbly balanced. Head Brewer Tom Bott says of it - "Black Vinyl has a great chocolate and roasted flavour that develops and blossoms upon repeat visit... it is to beer what a record player is to the iPod.”
Beer or bands, you will not be disappointed.

Wakrat 'establish own republic' in Parliament Square before rolling up to their show at Black Heart last night on a double decker bus
Rage Against The Machine star Tim Commerford claims to have established his own republic in London's Parliament Square.
The bass player has formed a new punk rock trio, Wakrat, who say that have taken the land in central London as their own sovereign state in a protest aimed at the current political system.
The Republic of Wakrat claims to have exploited a technicality in micro nation law, arguing that the area is actually the property of medieval King Offa.
"This new state welcomes everyone of all ethnicities, backgrounds, genders, generations, sexualities dis/abilities and faiths and offers a fresh alternative to the current system - we stand for equality and free movement," the constitution reads.
"The current system is oppressive and elitist, promoting racist ideologies in order to push a self-serving agenda whilst an entire generation is put jeopardy. We condemn this behaviour and Republic Of Wakrat exists to expose it."
Wakrat and their fans toured London in a double decker bus emblazoned with "#generationf****d" on Tuesday, before heading to Parliament Square to plant a red and black flag.
Commerford said: "We have put a s**t load of blood and sweat into this and we want it back.
"Our mission is to attack modern music and smash the grid. Unapologetic, unrelenting, unbridled and uncensored. Understood?"
Wakrat will release their debut album on November 11 to coincide with the US election.
The bus rolled up to their sold out show at Black Heart afterwards and ripped us all a new one! Video evidence coming soon!

Moor, Gipsy Hill, Siren and more!
Here's the lowdown on what we've got coming up on draught this week, boy are you in for a treat!
From Moor we've got Pale Modern Ale or PMA if you will. Mango in color and brewed with hops from around the world and an all UK malt bill. Grapefruit and peach aromas with toffee malt, crisp hop and slightly fruity taste. Finishes dry. 5.3%. Moor are donating a portion of the proceeds of the sale of PMA to charity in support of Hardcore Hits Cancer so there's no excuses not to give this one a try!
Next up we've got a real Black Heart favorite, Gipsy Hill's Hepcat. This session IPA comes in at 4.6% and has a hop bill of Mosaic, Citra, Equinox and Motueka. A rich orange color, hoppy grassy aromas give way to big tropical fruit flavors.
Blueberry, mint, lime and orange? All in one brew? Don't put it past Siren's Tchuss. This Berliner Weisse is one we've been looking forward to for a while. Pours a dark amber, with a lemony funk aroma. Taste is typical Berliner with mild berries and a strong mint hit. Very smooth, a perfect refreshing beer for the summer. 5%
We're very proud to be able to call ourselves an Official Rogue Nation Embassy, and one of the perks of that is that we've got a rotating selection of Rogue's very best brews and bottles. Coming next we've got the appropriately named Brutal IPA. Hazy orange in color, a big citrus hop aroma with a spicy and bitter hop taste. The malt gives a caramel sweetness which helps to balance this brew. 6.3%
Finally we've got a little reminder of our childhood from Saugatuck Brewing Co, a Neapolitan Milk Stout. This is a classic dry stout with the triple threat of strawberry, vanilla and chocolate flavors. Dark black color with a light brown head, the aroma is lactose and strawberry. Tastes of neapolitan ice cream funnily enough, a little sweetness and medium body. We cannot wait to try this one! 6%
